On 22 January 1963, French President Charles de Gaulle and German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer signed the Élysée Treaty, laying the foundations for close cooperation in foreign policy, security, and culture. Since then, Franco-German friendship has become an essential pillar of European integration. To celebrate this friendship and the spirit of European collaboration, the French Institute and the German Cultural Center in Cluj invite you to a special movie night featuring two remarkable Franco-German co-productions. TRANSIT, starring Franz Rogowski and Paula Beer, is a loose adaptation of Anna Seghers' novel of the same name, directed by Christian Petzold, who moves the story of a German refugee during World War II to the present day. Against the backdrop of a Europe in crisis, Georg, a German refugee, arrives in Marseille, where, assuming the identity of a deceased writer, he lives in a permanent state of waiting, among visas, consulates, and other fugitives. His life changes when he meets the mysterious Marie, a woman searching for her missing husband, and a love story marked by uncertainty and hope blossoms between them. Event supported by Goethe-Institut.
