At YoungARTA Edu we aim to use film as a tool to welcome children and teenagers to audiovisual arts. We propose educational paths that include film screenings, practical workshops and discussions moderated by experts. Depending on the complexity of the educational pathway agreed with the teachers, the activities take place at our cinema or at school.
We believe that, in today's society, audiovisual knowledge plays a key role in personal formation and development, enabling us to better understand the world and to discern between the countless information and messages to which we are constantly exposed.
Film education programs focus on understanding the language of film. The tools we use vary, depending on age, from simple hands-on activities to complex creative or reflective workshops facilitated by artists or film critics.
"Film can help us to understand ourselves (...) But in the same way, film can also help us to understand other people, other cultures, times, ideas and values. The wider our access to film, the deeper and more complex our interaction with the world around us."
Film education programs aim to encourage reflection and provide young people with critical thinking tools, thus helping to improve their cognitive and emotional skills and to create the conditions for a better knowledge and understanding of the world around them, cultivating empathy, tolerance, acceptance of diversity and social responsibility.
The teachers with whom we collaborate integrate the films into different contexts, from encouraging interest in a literary work to civic education, environmental education, history or geography.
